September 2026 240 day-old chicks arrived at SRUC in Edinburgh last week for the start of LanoTech’s second poultry trial.
The chicks were weighed and randomly assigned ten to a pen, where they quickly cottoned on to eating, drinking and socialising.
Even at a day old, chicks are inquisitive little chaps. By the final pen check there were 11 in one pen and 9 next door!
Over the course of the trial, they’ll be fed lanolin-based, soy-based or control diets at varying concentrations as we continue to investigate the potential for lanolin as an alternative feed ingredient.
